Triceratops Extend Streak with 15-7 Win Over Lakers
In a thrilling Ohio Community College Conference showdown, the Triceratops extended their winning streak to 15 games with a 15-7 victory over the Lakeland Lakers. Despite facing an early challenge, the Triceratops (now 17-5, 5-0) maintained their offensive dominance to secure the win.
After jumping out to an early 4-0 lead, the Lakers (7-10, 1-2) quickly responded with a five-run rally in the top of the third, briefly taking a 5-4 lead. However, the Triceratops wasted no time in retaking control. They answered back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and exploded for seven more in the fifth inning, effectively putting the game out of reach.
The late innings saw another two runs from the Triceratops in the seventh to seal the victory, with Mason Wolf earning the win on the mound. Wolf received solid support from starter Keagan Gilbride, who struck out seven batters in six strong innings of work.
Offensively, Jackson Boles led the charge for the Triceratops, driving in four RBIs on two hits, including a triple. The team showcased their power at the plate with three triples—one each from Boles, Kohan Merritt, and Pat Ferrell—as well as three doubles from Farrell, Vinny Gallaher, and Adam Rich. Farrell had a standout performance, finishing with three hits, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
Brendan Hazuda also made his mark, contributing three RBIs on two hits in three at-bats, further fueling the offensive surge. With this win, the Triceratops' streak now sits at 15, and they will look to keep the momentum going as they prepare for game two of the series.
