Lady tops fall in season debut

 

Perrysburg, Ohio – Cuyahoga Community College volleyball started its 2024 season with a loss at the Owens Invitational, falling to the Muskegon Community College Jayhawks in three sets (12-25, 22-25, 15-25) on August 30, 2024.

Kimberly Biglin and Mikayla Brown each recorded seven kills for the 'Tops, with Biglin adding a match-high 10 digs and two service aces. Hayley Stoddard contributed with eight blocks.

Three other players made their debuts: Ilaya Akinkuoye with five kills and three solo blocks, Almarys Colon with 10 digs and one ace, and Lucy Deleon with eight digs. Sophomore Jourdan Longino led with 23 assists.

The Jayhawks took control early in the first set, reaching 10 and 15 points first to build a five-point lead at the media timeout. The Lady Tops fought hard in the second set but fell short in a closely contested battle losing in three sets.  couldn't keep pace.
