Keyonna McGill Breaks Three School Records in Remarkable Indoor Track Season

The outdoor season is now upon us, but a series of record-breaking performances this indoor track season by Keyonna McGill, a standout athlete for the Tri-C Track & Field team, has made an incredible impact in 2025, setting new school records in the 400m, 60m, and 200m events, while surpassing long-standing marks held by previous record-holders.

On February 8, McGill set the school record in the 400m dash at the Ashland Jud Logan Light Giver Meet. Her outstanding performance broke the previous school record set by Mannika Powell in 2002, highlighting her speed and consistency. Just days later, on February 14 at the Spire Invitational, McGill again made her mark by breaking the 60m school record held by Brittini Brown since 2012. This impressive feat further solidified McGill's place as one of the top sprinters in the nation.

The record-breaking streak continued on March 7 at the National Indoor Championship, where McGill set a new school record in the 200m dash. In doing so, she broke Mannika Powell's 200m record, which had stood for over two decades, marking a new era for Tri-C Track & Field.

These records are a testament to McGill's dedication, hard work, and perseverance, as she continues to excel in her sophomore season. Her standout performances this year have cemented her status as one of the top athletes in the region, and her achievements have generated significant excitement within the Tri-C community and beyond.

"I'm beyond grateful for the opportunity to compete at such a high level and to represent Tri-C," McGill said. "Breaking these records is a result of a lot of hard work and support from my coaches and teammates. I'm excited to continue pushing myself and to see what else we can achieve as a team."

McGill's incredible season has been a driving force for the Tri-C Track & Field team, and her accomplishments have placed the program on the map for future competitions. As she prepares for upcoming events, all eyes will be on McGill as she aims to continue her record-breaking streak and solidify her legacy as one of the best athletes in Tri-C history.
