The Triceratops earn a split in New York
The Triceratops Dominate Erie with Complete Team Effort
The Triceratops (7-14) came out firing on all cylinders Sunday afternoon, delivering a commanding performance against the Erie Community College Cats (2-18) for a much-needed bounce-back victory to complete the New York split. After a tough loss the day before, Coach Dion Griffin's squad showed resilience and confidence from the opening tip. The team executed their game plan flawlessly, with Coach Griffin praising the offensive surge that has been the focus of his coaching all season long.
The Triceratops shot a stellar 45% from the field, and five players finished in double figures. Sophomore Artica Conner led the charge with 21 points, while Jayleena Bauzo added 16 points. Hazely Wagner contributed 14 points, and both Tyairah Flowers and Alaya Harris chipped in with 10 points each.
Conner's all-around performance didn't stop at scoring. She grabbed six rebounds, recorded five steals, and tallied two assists—one of her best all-around performances of the season. Bauzo was also impressive, contributing five rebounds and five assists while making an impact on both ends of the court. Flowers played a pivotal role, grabbing nine rebounds (five offensive) and leading the team with seven assists. Wagner, not to be outdone, recorded her first double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds (four offensive), while adding seven steals and six assists to her impressive stat line. LaNysha Prewitt joined Wagner by also grabbing 10 boards (four offensive).
"This was a complete team effort," said Coach Griffin. "This is the kind of performance we've been looking for all season, and I'm proud of the way the team executed today."

By halftime, they held a 44-21 advantage and dominated the second half, outscoring the Cats 49-14. Coach Griffin credited the team's defense and sharp shooting: "When our defense is locked in like it was today, and our shots are falling, we are a tough team to beat."
