The Tri-C Men's Soccer team's comeback season ended in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday evening in Marysville, Michigan at St. Clair Community College's Skipper Field. The Tops were the 4th seed in the 4 team tournament and would have to go through top seed and #6 ranked Schoolcraft to advance. Earlier this season, the Ocelots had defeated the Tops at home, 8-2. However, the final score could be a bit deceiving as the Tops were leading that game 2-1.
The Tops came out in the first half revved up to go as the favored Ocelots were on their heels. Just :30 into the game, Darious Crawford scored on an unassisted goal and the Tops had a quick 1-0 lead. Schoolcraft tied the game quickly but leading scorer, Aldair Villamizar-Cardenas would score for the Tops on an assist by Sam Laffin and the Tops led 2-1 at the 26' mark of the first half. Schoolcraft would even things up before the half and the 2-2 tie would last until midway through the second half when the Ocelots scored what would prove to be the game winning goal.
Jack Waters and Darious Crawford were named to the NJCAA Region XII All Tournament Team for the Tops.
Tri-C finishes the season, 12-4.
