The Triceratops Soccer team won a hard fought, 4-2 victory over upstart Terra State on Wednesday evening at the Tri-C Western Campus Soccer Field. In what would be considered a "trap'" game with a Saturday road date against #12 Grand Rapids CC looming, the Tops came out on fire with their two points leaders, Darious Crawford and Aldair Cardenas-Villamizar giving the Tops what seemed like a comfortable 2-0 lead just 10 minutes into the game. However, a Titans goal with under 5 minutes left in the first half cut the lead in half and the Tops took a 2-1 lead into the break.
The second half started simlar to the first with Cardenas-Villamizar scoring within the first 5 minutes of the half and again it looked as though the Tops would run away and hide but a Titans goal in the 67th minute cut the lead back to one and the Titans found new life pressuring the Tops and creating a few good chances. Finally, in the 84th minute, Crawford scored his second goal of the game to put the game on ice. Crawford also had an assist on a goal as did Ahmad Nawshad. Eamon DeLeon made 2 saves in goal but they were key saves on great chances from the Titans.
The Tops move to 9-0 in NJCAA Region XII and will head to Grand Rapids on Saturday for a 1 pm showdown with GRCC.
