MBK: Tops Stop Express, 83-63
The Tri-C Men's Basketball team moved to 11-1 with a conference win over the home team the Owens Express on Saturday. It was another wire-to-wire game as the visitors established dominance early and maintained it throughout the contest and cruised to an 83-63 victory.
The Tops were not as sharp as Coach Nixon wanted his squad to be. The team turned the ball over 22 times but they dominated the glass 47-29 and held the Express to only 38.3% shooting from the field.
Manny Hill missed his third straight game with a triple-double as he finished with nine points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists. Hill was joined by Ezra McKee who kept his streak of double-digit scoring with 15 points and seven boards. McKee also got back into rhythm by connecting on all three of his free-throw attempts. Devonte Greene again impressed with 15 points and nine boards. Clayton Cunningham rounded out the double-digit scoring with 13 points and three steals.
With a half-time lead of 35 – 22. Coach Nixon played the starters early but quickly went to his bench to ensure all the players touched the floor. Mikael Hill took advantage of his minutes by connecting on 3-4 from the field (1-2 from deep) to finish with eight points. Davonte Demianov was the surprise starter for the first time.
The win pushes the Tops to 11–1 on the season. The Tops will play tonight, Wednesday, December 13th vs Erie Community College. 7p.m. tip, admission is free come support the TOPS!!!
