MBK: Tops Soar Past Jayhawks, 101-76
The Tri-C Men's Basketball team's season home opener was successful as they stomped the Jamestown Jayhawks 104 – 76. The score does not indicate the dominance the Tops had over the Jayhawks. With a noisy crowd spearheaded by a raucous student section, the Jayhawks were in for a long night. The Tops had five players in double figures. Ezra McKee led the way with 18 points, 6 rebounds (three off the offensive glass), and three steals. McKee was perfect on all three long balls and continues to shoot 100% from the line. The other double-digit scorers included Ramir Bledsoe (15), Pharrell House & Devonte Greene (14 each), and Manny Hill (12 points and nine assists). The Tops held the Jayhawks to 29% shooting from deep and forced 27 turnovers.
Greene electrified the house with a thunderous second-half dunk and finished with 14 rebounds. Donovan Coffey was second on the team with five assists.
The Tops started fast taking a 46-23 halftime lead and never looked back at the Jayhawks as they were able to get all uniformed players into the game for some minutes.
The win pushes the Tops to 2-1 on the season. The Tops will play North Central Michigan Community College and the Grand Rapids Community College this weekend (10 – 11 Nov) at the N. Michigan Tournament. The Tops return home on 29 Nov to face conference foe Hocking at the Metro gym. Admission is free come support the TOPS!!!
