
Tri-c Men's Basketball moves to 19-4, with 88-63 victory
The Tri-C men's basketball team neutralized the Chargers of Edison State Community Colleg for the second time this season at on 4 Feb 2023 at the Metro Gymnasium. The Tops never trailed as they electrified the crowd with a 88 - 63 win. The Tops were energized early as they stated the game with two exciting ducks by Devin Haid (19 points five rebounds) and Tyishawn Smiley (17 points and eight rebounds).
The game was never in doubt, the Tops controlled the tempo and forced the Chargers into 21 turnovers. The Tops continued with their pressing defense and limited the Chargers to only six made three-point field goals. Haid and Smiley had company as Jamail Spivey and Tallice Landers both dropped in 11 points. Jordan Persad led the team with five assists.
During the second half the Tops received a spark off the bench from Donovan Coffey who poured in 9 points and continued with his stellar defense. The Tops offense was on display as they shot an impressive 43.5% from distance. Coffey was perfect from the arc while Landers shot 75% from deep (80% for the game).
The men are back in action for a road contest Wednesday at 7:30 pm for a rematch with the Commodores of Lorain Community College The men also wil travel to Owens on Saturday at 1 pm and entertain Community Christian College on Sunday the 12th at noon. Also, the Ben Wallace jersey ceremony is set for 15 Feb 2023 when both the men and women tangle with cross county rivals the Lakers of Lakeland Community College.
