Tops Win Triple OT Barnburner in Return, 103-100
After a two year hiatus and not to be outdone by the buzzer beater win by the women's team, the Tops took down Erie County CC in triple overtime, 103-100. Facing a more experienced team that was in the regional semi-finals a year ago, the young Tops got off to an uneven start but eventually setttled down but still had to rely on three free throws from leading scorer, Manny Hill (23 pts.) with 2.6 seconds left in regulation to send it to the first overtime.
In addition to his 23 points. Hill also recorded a double, double by pitching with 10 boards and 5 assists before fouling out. Hill's teammates did not disappoint and provided plenty of help. Four other players scored in double digits including: Tyishawn Smiley with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Devin Haid with 18 points, Jordan Persad with 18 points with 4 assists and Tallice Landers with 10 points coming off the bench.
