Game 1: Triceratops 6, Lakers 3
Jackson Boles led the charge in the series opener, going 3-for-4 with a pivotal three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth that broke the game open. Boles also showcased his speed on the basepaths, swiping three bags. Adam Rich chipped in with two hits, while Keagan Gilbride delivered a strong outing on the mound, tossing 8.0 innings, allowing just one earned run, and striking out five.
Game 2: Lakers 8, Triceratops 7 (10 innings)
The Lakers snapped the Triceratops' impressive 41-game win streak in a gritty extra-inning battle. Mid-Michigan jumped out early with a six-run second inning and managed to hold off a fierce Triceratops comeback. Despite the loss, Kohan Merritt and Brock Miller each drove in two runs, while Etan Elbert was stellar in relief, surrendering just one run and striking out six to keep the Triceratops within striking distance.
Game 3: Triceratops 12, Lakers 4
In the decisive Game 3, the Triceratops left no doubt. Dominant from the first pitch, they steamrolled the Lakers in a commanding 12-4 win. Brendan Hazuda led the offensive onslaught with three hits and two RBIs. Merritt added two hits, two runs, and two stolen bases, while Joey Lehner knocked in two. Brock Miller continued his postseason tear, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Vinny Gallaher earned the win with six solid innings and four strikeouts.
With the series win, the Triceratops advance to the next round and continue to look like true postseason contenders. They'll face the Bruins of Kellogg Community College in the Super Regionals, beginning on 15 May 15, 2025, at Jackson College in Jackson, Michigan. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. The Super Regionals will follow a double-elimination format, with each game consisting of nine innings.
