Triceratops take two from Hocking 9-8 in game one and 3-1 in game two
Cleveland:
In a thrilling finale to a historic regular season, the Triceratops baseball team swept a doubleheader against the Hawks of Hocking Community College to close out their campaign with a jaw-dropping 40-game winning streak, clinch the conference title outright, and secure the No. 1 seed heading into the postseason.
Game 1: Triceratops 9, Opponent 8
The opening game was a back-and-forth battle, but the Triceratops showed resilience late to walk away with a 9-8 victory. After the Hawks scored six in their half of the third, the offense chipped away with 3 runs in the bottom of the third inning, followed by 2-run rallies in both the sixth and seventh to complete the comeback.
Jackson Boles led the charge with 3 RBIs, delivering in key moments. Joey Lehner and Brycen Brittain also came through, each driving in two runs to help power the offense. The clutch seventh-inning push sealed the win and kept the streak alive.
Game 2: Triceratops 3, Opponent 1
The second game showcased a more composed performance, highlighted by Mitchell Harder's dominance on the mound. Harder struck out six of the seven batters he faced over two innings to earn the win. Unlike the high-scoring opener, this time it was the pitching staff that sealed the deal. Head Coach Kyle Stahlberg praised his team's poise under pressure and their ability to shift gears between games. "This team is special," Stahlberg said. "We faced some adversity in game one, but a timely message from Assistant Coach Tim Miller lit a spark that carried straight into game two."
Brycen Brittain stayed red-hot at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and scoring twice. Justin Thelsen smashed a triple, while Brittain, Brock Miller, and Jackson Boles each doubled in a game that saw the Triceratops manufacture timely runs to take a 3-1 win.
With the sweep, the Triceratops not only put the finishing touches on an undefeated run to end the regular season but did so in style, capturing the conference crown outright and entering the playoffs as the top seed.
