Edison State
The Tri-C Baseball Team swept a twi-night doubleheader from the Chargers of Edison State on Thursday night by scores of 3-2 and 8-7. The games were highly competitive as the Tops maintained first place in the OCCAC with the sweep.
Game 1 W 3-2
Sloan Ulrich was masterful on the mound for the Tops going 6 strong innings, allowing just 4 hits and 2 runs while striking out 6. Kyle Koehler had the big blow for the Tops as he hit an opposite field solo homer in the bottom of the 5th to give the Tops the go ahead run. It was Koehler's seventh of the year. Closer Jackson Judy came in for the 7th and shut down the Chargers. Mason Koons also had two hits for the Tops, while Carter Blakeman had an RBI.
Game 2 W 8-7
Once again, the Tops were blessed by great starting pitching as Ty Pangborn went 4 and 2/3 for the win before having to exit. Pangborn was cruising at the time, striking out 8 and scattering 4 hits. Ricardo Medrano finished up the 5th for Pangborn and pitched a scoreless 6th and the Tops led 8-0 head to to the top of the 7th but the Chargers stormed back to score 7 in the inning before once again, Jackson Judy came in to get the final out of the game and preserve the win. At the plate, Saveonne Mayo had three hits and 2 RBI's for the Tops, and Jake Downey also had multiple hits. Mason Koons and Connor Bozak each drove in two runs.
The Tops now stand at 24-8 on the season and 17-1 in the OCCAC and have won 7 in a row. They are in first place in the OCCAC. They travel to Edison on Sunday for another key matchup with the Chargers.
