Volleyball Team Participates in Volley for the Cure Event

On Tuesday 10/3 the women's volleyball team had the pleasure of taking on staff and students at the Eastern campus. The participants included head volleyball coach Tionne El-Amin and assistant volleyball coach Olivia Longino.

In the inaugural Volley for the Cure gameboth teams were eager to show their skill in support of the cause.

The staff contestants included: both coaches, Angel Miller, Chris Fasiana, Bob Benden, and, a few students. Unfortunately for them, they suffered a devastating loss 3-1 along with sore forearms.

The impressive play from powerful middle blockers Makenzie Thompson and Jynx Bretz was more than the staff could handle. The other members of the team, setters Makenzie Langford  and Zkyliah Stevens caused major problems for a good cause.

"October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to
increase awareness of the disease. The goal is to get as many people
as possible involved in raising awareness and funds to help support
             life-saving research and life-changing support."

The event was filled with smiles and laughter with all heads held high. The team defeated the staff and students 3 – 1 but this was an event with NO losers.

The team will continue the support for this worthy cause on Friday 10/6 when the team and coaches will honor our sophomores for their final home game at East campus on Friday, when the Tops take on Lakeland Community College at 6 pm. Come out and enjoy the fun!
