Softball Weekend Recap: Tops Split with Clark State

The Triceratops softball team split two games with the visiting Clark State Eagles on Friday afternoon at the western campus.

 

Game 1  L 20-5

Everything that could go wrong did in the first game of the doubleheader as the Tops fell 20-5 in 5 innings.  Nicole Goode had two of the Tops four hits and two RBI's. CeCe Stephens homered for the Tops.

Game 2  W 13-5

The Tops rebounded nicely by defeating the Eagles 13-5 in 5 innings.  On the mound, Maelly McGowen was masterful scattering 7 hits, striking out two and walking none. At the plate, CeCe Stephens and Maya Sheller each had three hits, while Reis Johnson, Maddie Brockman and Abbie Gaynor had two each.  Stephens added four RBI's and Brockman had three.

The Tops move to 14-11 overall and 10-4 in the OCCAC and remain in 2nd place behind league leading Hocking.  Tri-C will play a four game weekend series with Edison State this coming weekend with the Tops traveling on Friday to Edison and the Chargers coming to Parma on Sunday.
